Project #10073 - task 3

NO PLAGERISM

Question 1 – Written response (10 marks)

You have just completed your study of the war poet, Wilfred Owen, and the text, War Poems and Others. Your teacher has sent you some additional learning materials which express the following opinion:

‘Wilfred Owen’s poems can be read as complex commentaries on war that resulted from the conflicting feelings he experienced while serving in France during World War 1. These feelings ranged from anger and indignation towards bureaucrats and war propagandists to increased sympathy for the plight of the ordinary soldier.’

Your teacher has asked for your thoughts on these ideas.

Write the response you would give to your teacher. In your response, you should outline the reasons why you either agree or disagree with this statement. You should refer in detail to AT LEAST TWO of the poems you have studied in the module to argue your position.

Write 400-500 words.

Module C: Texts and Society – Into the World

Question 2 – Formal speech (20 marks)

Our journeys into the world offer both possibilities and problems to be solved.

You have been asked to give a speech on this topic to a group of Year 11 students.

In your speech, refer to your prescribed text for this module, Billy Elliot, and at least ONE other related text of your choosing.

Your discussion of Billy Elliot must include an analysis of the way that the director, Stephen Daldry, uses music to complement the themes that underlie the film. You could also refer to the use of other audio effects and the use of dialogue in the film.

Write 800-1000 words.
