The director of admissions of a small college selected 240 student scores at random from the new freshman class in a study to determine whether a student's GPA (Y) at the end of the freshman year could be predicted from the ACT test score(X). The results of the study are listed in the Excel file "Name_Final". Assume a first order regression. | ||||||

a. Obtain the least square estimates of Bo & B1, and state the estimated regression function (equation) | ||||||

b. Plot the estimated regression function and the data, does the estimated model fit the data well? | ||||||

c. Obtain point estimates of the mean freshman GPA for students with ACT scores given by 1. Xi1= 32, 2. Xi2=29 & 3. Xi3=22.5 | ||||||

d. Analyze the value of R squared from the regression output, what does it mean? | ||||||

e. Obtain descriptive statistics using Excel | ||||||

f. Comment on the standard deviations for GPA and ACT | ||||||

g. Is this model better than the model obtained by using the data of 120 students (see solutin file posted on Moodle)? Why is it better / worse / no different? | ||||||
