Resource: Electronic Reserve Readings in the attachment

Read "The Public Accountability of Private Police: Lessons from New York, Johannesburg, and Mexico City" in this week's Electronic Reserve Readings ( in the attachment). Also do important outside internet research and utilize Nemeth, the course text and relevant expert treatises and material from security management Databases, and Especially key legal issues and theories we discuss in the main forum.

Write a 1,400- to 2,000 word paper in which you evaluate civil liability and private police. What is the potential for civil liability? What measures are in place to mitigate organizational and institutional liability? Research, analyze and evaluate at least one cutting edge issue relevant to this topic from the Security Management professional literature. The Assignment Paper Guide, Grading Rubric and point-counterpoint lecture are course requirements. It is very critical that you utilize point-counterpoint court cases to integrate the key legal theories and issues raised by the instructor in the main forum with the required reading of Nemeth  and the supplemental readings. Point-Counterpoint court case analysis is a specific UOP requirement for SEC 350. If you do not understand point-counterpoint and conflict pairings analysis please contact me personally before writing and submitting your paper, I promise as a teacher I will take as many hours as you need or want to work with you on this UOP requirement. Discuss and analyze issues such as the following, but not limited to the following: legal issues and theories from academic weeks one and two, Nemeth and the UOP required supplemental readings and the main forum debates, respondeat superior, vicarious liability, nexus theory, assumption of risk doctrine, third party liability, equity, in pari delictu, lex loci, proximate cause, the Palsgraf case, merchant's privilege, scope of employment, theories of negligence, etc. etc.  Format your paper consistent with APA guidelines.
