Project #106086 - Journal

This week's journal entry is the beginning stage of the Branding Yourself project, which will be due in week 7. You are graded for each journal entry and graded separately for the final Branding Yourself Project.

In today’s competitive marketplace we all need to think about branding ourselves. In the book Branding Yourself, by Erik Deckers and Kyle Lacy, branding is defined as follows: “ Branding yourself means that you create the right kind of emotional response you want people to have when they hear your name, see you online or meet you in person.” Branding yourself is for everyone. People who already have jobs, people who are looking for a job, people who are starting their own business, people who are students, everyone. Start thinking about what you want to be known for. What are you an expert in? Are you known for making the best brownies in your town? Are you known for being the best networker at your job?  Are you an expert in rap music? The possibilities are endless, after all each one of us are special in some way!

This assignment is to give you an opportunity to explore and experience the role of the designer and other creatives when designing for marketing. Start brainstorming about developing your own brand. Have fun with this.

Think about the question: If you were a brand, what would your brand look like?

Make sure you read the articles on Branding Yourself in the Reading and Resources folder for guidance.
