Project #10618 - question 5(100 words or more)

The similarities between the forms of drama, poetry, and the short story is that all forms are geared to a specific target audience. Although this is a similarity it is also a major difference between the forms.  A Drama is aimed to reach the audience visually, a poem written to catch them emotionally, and a short story is to strike them mentally. With a drama you can see the actors on a stage play out how the writer intended for the spectator’s enjoyment.  Typically a poet writes to put out meanings, the readers will see that his work can take on many meanings by touching their deep emotions. A short story is written for an individual reader to envision a story line that the author is trying to project, instead of seeing the scenery as one would in a drama the writer helps the reader by describing in detail. We can furthermore take another difference between the three forms of literary work by examining the dialogue in a drama.  Short stories and poems do not have dialogue mainly for the reason that the tone has already been established in the plot to create the mood. You can usually see within the first couple lines of a poem how the mood is set. “Two roads diverged in a yellow wood, And sorry I could nottravel both”(Frost)
