Project #11735 - Management Science Discussion Questions

discussion questions for management science course.

1. Interesting Examples/ Applications:

Week #3 is, in many ways, challenging because it is the first time we will actually be creating (rather than just reading about or discussing) linear programs. Perhaps for that reason, however, it is also one of the more enjoyable segments of the course.

Please use this thread to share your thoughts about the general utility of LP's? As you've reflected on this material since the start of the term, are there interesting/potential applications that have come to mind? Are there related concepts or examples from the text that need further clarification?

Please try not to repeat what others have said or what was suggested in other threads from prior weeks. As always, please don't feel obligated to respond to each of the questions in the paragraph above. Just one is fine.

2, Range of Feasibility:

Last week we studied and discussed many important concepts pertaining to linear programming. "Ranges of Feasibility" were amongst these but were not a primary focus of attention in any one discussion thread.

In your own words, please explain what a Range of Feasibility is. How can it be useful for a manager? Do you have particular questions about this concept? Do you have particular examples of this concept?

(Please DON'T feel obligated to respond to all of these prompts. Just one is fine. Please also feel free to respond to something one of your peers has said...instead of any of the questions I have asked.)

3. DUAL VALUES:

Last week we studied and discussed many important concepts pertaining to linear programming. "Dual Values" were amongst these but were not a primary focus of attention in any one discussion thread.

In your own words, please explain what a dual value is.
