Project #12719 - Cross Cultural Country Report

Description:   Uganda is the country 2-3 pages APA Format.

This is your task: Your supervisor has an important meeting next week in (your assigned country). She gives you the task of briefing her about “everything she needs to know” before traveling to that country as a representative of an American organization. Your paper/will simulates your fact-finding briefing with your supervisor. Use whatever resources you can find for your information. Chapters 10-15, your text, Managing Cultural Differences, provides some information about various places in the world. You should also use at least two other resources. Some links are available in this site, but you are encouraged to seek additional sources that might be relevant to your own country.

Grading will consider the comprehensiveness of facts THAT RELATE to what a
business traveler might need to know. Examples:

- The history of pottery in a country might be interesting, but not necessarily important to the business traveler. However, it may be relevant that because a country takes pride in its art, complimenting artwork in a conference a room is a welcome conversational ice breaker.

- The name of the highest mountain is not relevant. But the fact that your supervisor should bring warm clothes for the alpine temperature IS relevant. It also may be relevant to business that there is extreme poverty in the country, and unemployment is high - particularly in the highlands.

Use APA format.  Avoid using “I” as a subject; use passive structures. For example, instead of writing “I believe this is a high-context culture country,” use “It is considered to be a high-context culture country.”Please also include a reference page.

Please include this also in paper:General country information is interesting to hear about, but I would prefer to read more about business-related interactions that an individual traveling there might run into.  For example:  where and when to set meetings, how to arrange a room for a meeting, to include food or general conversation in a meeting prior to getting down to business, is email appropriate or phone-calling better, are business cards used, what if the supervisor is male vs. female in that culture, what is appropriate touch in the business setting...etc...?
