INDIVIDUAL ASSIGNMENT 1: DUE DATE- Sep 19th in class.

(2)    Total Page Limit: The final solutions including any Appendix/Graphs/Computer Output you choose to attach must not exceed 2 neatly type written pages.  Each extra page over this limit will lead to a reduction of 5 points per page in your total grade.  Do not interpret this as two pages for each question!  The report must be double-spaced, 12-point, Times Roman font. No electronic copy will be accepted.

(3)    The assignment is due on Sep 19th in class.

(4)    All answers must be stated in CONTEXT of the problem.  Merely reporting numbers or showing an Excel spreadsheet analysis will result in a significant reduction in your grade.

Use a one-way data table. Assume 204 tickets as a starting trial value and increase up to (and including) 207 tickets. The output variable is Probability(of Overbooking).

Use a one-way data table. Assume 0.005 as a starting trial value for Standard Deviation and use the following values in your data table .006, .007, .008, .009, and .01. The output variable is Expected Annual Cost.

For this problem define X to mean the Number Correct. Then, for parts (b) and (c), set up a simple algebraic equation before using Excel to solve the correct probability. Part (a) is easy.
