1. Set up an Excel spreadsheet with the year in the first column, real GDP in the second column, the unemplyment rate in the third column and the inflation rate in the fourth column. you can open the tables in the Economic Report of the President as Excel spreadsheet and simply copy of data to your spreadsheet.

2. at the top of your spreadsheet to the right of the fourth column of data, insert a line graph showing real GDP of the entire time period 1966 through 2012. years should show on the horizontal axis, real GDP on the vertical axis. this line shows the long term trend in real GDP over time.

3. in cell g29, compute the correlation coefficient between the inflation rate and the unemplyment rate for the period 1966 through 2012. use formulas, more functions, statistical, CORREL.

4. in cell G34, compute the correlation coefficient between the nflation rate and the unemplyment rate for the period 1990 to 2012.

5. compare the results from 3 and 4 above. as you can examine the data, can you determine a reason for the diffrent results from 3 and 4? write a short explanation beginning in cell g42- this text should run across multiple cells, you can hit return if you wish to keep the text visible n a single page.

6. title your spread sheet with your last name ( Just title it NITRO)
