# Project #15424 - Statistics

When people smoke, the nicotine they absorb is converted to cotinine, which can be measured. A sample of 40 smokers has a mean cotinine level of 172.5, and the standard deviation is 119.5, use 0.05 significance level to test the claim that the mean cotinine level of all smokers is equal to 200.0.

A) Write the hypothesis.

B) Calculate the test statistics.

C) Use  traditional and P-value method for testing, and give your conclusion.

D) What type of error you could have made here, type I or type II error? explain

E) Calculate the 99% confidence interval of the population mean, and use this confidence interval to make conclusion about the hypothesis. Please state what is the level of significant (α) that you are testing against.
