Use Polit2SetC for this homework. Select women’s depression as dependent variable (cesd). Independent variables include age (at the time of interview interview), race/ethnicity, current employment (worknow), poverty status, number of abuse (number of different types of abuse in the prior year), poor health self-rating (poorhlth). Answer the following questions:

1.     Run a simultaneous multiple regression to predict women’s level of depression using those independent variables (predictors). (1) Which predictor has the highest zero-order correlation with depression?  (2) What were the values of R2 and adjusted R2? (3)  Which predictors are significantly predictive of women’s depression? What were not significantly predictive? (4) Which variable is the most powerful in predicting depression? (5) Discuss the issue of multicollinarity. (6) What is the regression equation? (7) Create a table to summarize key findings of the regression analysis. (Use Table 10.11 on page 259 as a model)  (7) Write a paragraph to describe the findings (including significant predictors, the equation, and R2 )

2.     Run a stepwise multiple regression to predict women’s depression using the same independent variables. (1) How many predictors were entered before the regression stopped? (2) What predictor variables made in into the regression/ and which did not? (3) What was the progression of the value of R from one step to the next? And were these changes significant?

3.     Run a hierarchical multiple regression analysis to predict women’s depression using the same independent variables. Select the predictor variables you would like to enter in each step with a reasonable rationale for the order of entry. (Hint: those predictors can be categories as “demographic characteristics – age and race”, “socio-economic characteristics- work and poverty”, “health status”, and “number of abuse in the prior year.”)  (1) What is your rationale for the order of variable entry? (2) Create a table to summarize key findings of the regression analysis. (Use Table 10.10 on page 257 as a model).  (3) Write a paragraph to describe the findings.
