Project #16335 - Chemistry 121 post sythensis of alum answers

my issue is 5  post lab questions - basic chemistry not based on lab. ( $15.00)

1. A student reacted 1.01g of Al with 25.0 mL of 2.00 MKOH according to the following reaction:

    2Al(s) + 2KOH(aq)=6H2O(l)-----2KAl(OH)4+ 3H2(g)

a. How many moles of KOH were required to react with all the aluminum?

b. How many moles of KOH remain in the 25.0 mL of solution after reaction is complete? 

c. what is the molarity of KOH after reaction is complete?

2. What is the mass percent of water in KAl(SO4)2  12H2O?

3. A student obtained o12.1 g of KAl (SO4)2 12H2O in this experiment. He decided to dry the alum by heating it strongly.  Unfortunately he also drove off the water of hydration. What is the mass of his remaing anhydrous salt?

4. Mr. Fumblefingers was running late in labe. he collected his alum on a piece of filter paper and then stored the paper and alum 5 days until the next lab.  when he came in the filter was brittle and fell apart quite easilty.  Why did this occur

5. Classify the following properties of aluminum as chemical, intrinsic physical or extrinsic physical. 

a. aluminum is shiny

b. aluminum reacts with oxygen to form oxides

c. aluminum melts at 660 degrees celsius

d. 5.75cm3 of aluminum has a mass of 15.5 g

e my aluminum watering can was left outside last winter and had a temprateur of 23degrees celsius when I found it
