1. You are conducting a test on the influence of the consumption of energy drinks on the precision of flight in a series of flight simulation exercises. A number of pilots were randomly assigned to four groups: those consuming no energy drinks, those drinking Red Bull, those drinking AMP energy drink, and those consuming Rockstar Energy drink.

2. Download the Mid_exam_data1 file. Using variable one, what would the value be for a z-score of 1.25 for the sample?

4. What are five ways you can evaluate a dataset for the normality assumption for parametric analysis?

5. Using the Mid_exam_data1 file, you would like to conduct a t-test on the data. Using the normality tests you outlined in #4, test the variables for normality. Do they fit the assumption? Why or why not? BONUS: Do a power analysis. What is the sample size required?

6. Download Mid_exam_data2 file. You are interested in the potential differences between the number of flight hours of commercial pilots involved in accidents during the day (variable 1) and those at night (variable 2). What test should you use to evaluate this? Run the test and provide the results in APA format. Be sure the data meets the assumptions for the test. BONUS: what is your post hoc power for this test?

7. Download Mid_exam_data3 file. A study was done on statistics students to see how sleep might influence exam scores. Variable 1 is the number of hours of sleep. Variable 2 is the exam score. Is there a correlation between sleep and exam score? Why or why not? Report findings in APA format. BONUS: how many would be required in the sample to provide a power of 0.80?

8. Using the data in #7, if a student gets 4 hours of sleep, what exam score can they expect to get?

9. If you wanted to conduct a statistical analysis on the number of female pilots that were involved in an accident during the day or night versus the number of male pilots that were involved in accidents during the day or night, what type of test would you use? Note that you will be evaluating counts, not means.

10. In your 691 capstone course, you plan to do an independent sample t-test. During you data collection you determine that your data is not normally distributed. What should you do?
