Project #18053 - Psychology; Book report; "A boy called it"

The Book Report is on “A Boy Called It” by David Peltzer.

WRITING A GOOD BOOK REPORT FOR PSYCHOLOGY CLASSES:

The primary purpose of a book report, at any educational level, is to demonstrate to the instructor that you have actually read the book from cover to cover. Beyond that, you must showcase your ability to interact with the material you have read through the eyes of Psychology.

Of course, the most successful book reports show creativity and interesting writing technique, as you highlight psychological issues of what you have read.

 WHAT SHOULD BE INCLUDED:

1. Identifying Information: title, author, publisher, copyright date, number of pages

2. Author Information: Provide a brief biography of the author. What other book/s has he or she written?

3. Type of Book: non-fiction (biography, history, memoirs, etc.), fiction (action-adventure, romance, Western, etc.)

4. Main Characters: List and describe the protagonist, antagonist, and other major players. Also, describe the main psychological issues that are either experienced or conveyed by the main characters .

5. Plot or Content Summary: For fiction: offer a synopsis of the action in the book, without spoiling the ending. For non-fiction: trace the overall content and flow of the book.

6. Themes and Purposes: What do you think was the author's main purpose in writing the book?  How does Psychology play a part in the themes, and issues in this book?

7. Literary Devices (if applicable): Did the author employ symbolism, irony, major metaphors, motifs, or other literary devices?

8. Your Response: What was your favorite part of the book? How about your least favorite?  Were the psychological issues covered in a way that you have learned more , or did you feel that something was unclear?

9. Your Evaluation: Would you recommend this book to others? Why or why not? Why would this book be of interest to a Psychology major or someone who has an interest in Psychology?.

 WHAT MAKES AN "A" PAPER?

Book reports earn top grades when they fulfill all the basic requirements, but also demonstrate careful reading and creative writing. Descriptive accounts of key characters and their personal qualities, colorful recounting of major plot points, and detailed evaluations of the author's use of Psychological elements will set the successful report apart from the average ones.

A savvy report writer will attempt to incorporate into his book report any relevant major themes in Psychology that our  course has covered.

A book report offers a summarization and factual information about the assignment book. Include the reader's overall impression and opinions about the book.
