1. The ABO blood groups are distributed in the following way: 40% A, 35% O, 20% B and 5% AB. There are 200 units of blood were collected and typed with the following results:

O                     75

B                     20

AB                   10

                        ------

Please give the hypothesis first before your testing in a).

 

a) Please use Chi-square method to test if the units collected in the drive fit the hypothesized frequencies for the various blood types?

 

b) Please use G test method to test if the units collected in the drive fit the hypothesized frequencies for the various blood types?

 

c) Show R code and output for your test (You can use either Chi-square or G test to do R coding. Chi-square goodness of fit is ready to use in R package, g.test need to copy the code from the link shown in the class note).

 

d) Please find out which blood type has the significant difference from its hypotheses. (Hint, use the subdividing Chi-square method).

 

 

2. A random sample of 99 social workers was asked to indicate which of three welfare proposals they preferred. The following data were observed:

Proposal A    29

Proposal B    31

Proposal C    39

 

a) Please test whether there is a preference of the proposal (You can choose a test). Use hand calculation.

 

b) Use R code to test a).
