Problem 1:

 

1. Produce the scatter plot for x3 and y3. Do you think there are any outliers?

2. Calculate the correlation coefficient (r) for all the data points

3. What does the p-value in your SPSS output tell you?

4. What does r tell you about the strength of the association between x3 and y3?

5. Is either variable dependent on the other in this problem? Why or why not?

 

Problem 2

1.      Produce the scatter plot for x1 and y1. Do you think there are any outliers?

2.      Fit a linear regression model for y1 against x1. Do you think this is a model with a good fit? Why?

3.      Based on the results of 9.2b, is x1 a significant predictor for y1? Why?
