Project #22027 - SOCY discussion

What is a 'mobility table' ? Why do sociologists build 'mobility tables"?

Create a mobility table for your family starting with yourparents and grandparents. Add your parents' siblings to the table and/or family friends (basically, any parent and child, where the child is no longer in school).

What occupations are represented? Do you see any trends from one generation to the next?

If the United States is a meritocracy, why does a relationship seem to exist between the occupational categories of parents and their children?

What is the difference between income and wealth?

Why might certain sociologists prefer to measure inequality based on wealth instead of income

Please post your answer and also respond to your classmates' postings during this week's discussion.
