Description:

Preparing and executing a plan to help foster and improve personal character and competence is an

important aspect of leadership development. Based on your personal vision statement which you

will include in your development rationale and action plan, you will articulate 3 to 4 target areas

for personal leadership development. These areas may include character traits, leadership shadows,

normative leadership theories and/or ethical skills.

In three to four pages, 1) Using the results of yourself assessments, you will provide a rationale for

 

why you chose each target area. 2) Next, you will discuss which Faith Focus concepts may be

particularly helpful for developing in each target area. 3) You should also include specific

character building strategies from Johnson (2012) chapter 3 that may also be beneficial to your

plan. 4) You will then complete the Leadership Development Action Plan template which will

summarize specific steps you will take to achieve each goal. 5) Lastly, you will conclude your

leadership development plan with a discussion of how developing in the areas you’ve identified will

contribute to your effectiveness as a leader. Your conclusion must also include a discussion of how

failure to develop in the areas you’ve identified will impact your effectiveness as a leader.
