Project #25121 - Romantic Era

Major Paper

Discuss how a genre of creative work challenged the ideals of the previous generation.  Choose a collection of work from different disciplines that represent a genre or period of work. Select examples from various fields of work such as literature, philosophy, art, architecture, and music.  Then discuss how these creative works later influenced the generations of artists, composers, writers, and economists, and political thinkers in later generations. Unveil the themes and trends that run across disciplines.  Focus on analyzing the creative works and relating them to each other and the historical context in which it was created.

Directions

You must meet the following format.   Points will be deducted if you do not follow the format.  Follow MLA/Chicago citation.   It is available on-line at Owl at Purdue.  The format of the paper is the following: 12pt font, Times New Roman, double spaced, with your name and class information in the header, and page numbers in the footer.   You must have one inch margins.  The paper will not be accepted if the margins do not meet this standard.  It will be an automatic zero.  Five full pages is the minimum amount of pages for the paper; you may go over five pages, but do not exceed ten pages.  Follow grammar rules, and beware of unclear nouns and pronouns.   You may bring me a hard copy of the rough draft a week before the paper is due to review; do not bring me the paper the same week that it is due.  Do not e-mail any work to me please.   Best wishes.

Your paper is only as good as your sources.  You must have six sources outside of the assigned readings for the course.  Four of your sources must come from a physical book; you can find them in the library.   I have a list of the internet sites you are allowed to use; do not use any sites that are not on this list.   There are additional sites on Blackboard.   You may use J-Stor articles also.   Use a mix of primary and secondary sources.

Sources that you may use ONLINE:

PBS/NOVA,   Museum of Modern Art New York City, Museum of Modern Art San Francisco, Louvre, Metropolitan Museum of Art, Metropolitan Museum of Art, Modern History Source Book, Library of Congress, and the Smithsonian

My question is:

Question 5 Romanticism:  Define the shared similar characteristics and the themes in Romantic art, literature, and music. Discuss the different elements that each field utilizes to convey similar concepts.

-I want to use the "physical books" Frankenstein, Don Juan and others written during the romantic era. Remember, there must be atleast 4 physical book sources.
