This assignment uses the Avery Case Study attached to the previous unit. Suppose that Avery is going to increase its catalog campaign only if more than 50% of the population is expected to be somewhat or very willing to purchase from the catalog. This is Question #2 on the survey.

  1. State the null and alternative hypotheses.
  2. Total together the number of respondents who answered “somewhat willing” and “very willing” to Question #2. (One total; not a separate number for each). State this total, as well as the sample size.
  3. Using the Z-test One Proportion Excel file, find the p-value for this data. State this p-value. (Do not just paste the chart. Tell me which value represents the p-value.)
  4. Based on this p-value, can you reject the null hypothesis at the 5% significance level? Explain.
  5. According to the result you described in #4, should Avery increase its catalog campaign? Explain.
