Project #28524 - Hum/150 (film study)

Please 100 words minimal per DQ (3 DQ's) with a 100% original

DQ 1

Discuss with examples the characteristics of the mystery/suspense/crime and drama/cop procedural genres.  What special sounds, lighting, editing, etc. Are used to make a mystery mysterious?  How do they succeed or fail?  Also consider how the context of a mystery aids in its overall effect.  What is meant by “context”?  If a mystery is watched out of context (however you define it), do you think its suspense would be lost? For example, think of a children's or adult mystery you saw as a kid. What if anything did that mystery have to say then, and what if anything does it say now?  And what if anything did you and your contemporaries “hear” then, versus what if anything would viewers of that age group hear today? And what tools would you use to (re)place it to provide context now?

Also, in some instances, genres overlap each other, as when combining crime and comedy in cop-buddy capers.  In your opinion, do you think these movies fall into an existing genre, such as horror or comedy? If so, which one do they fall into? Why did you select this genre? If not, how would you define the genre? What would you call it?
