1.        A research center estimates that no more than 40% of US adults eat breakfast every day.  In a random sample of 250 adults, 41.6% say they eat breakfast every day.  At alpha = .01, is there enough evidence to reject the researches claim. (30 pts)

2.        The attached excel spreadsheet (Problem 2 tab) contains data of the amount that customers spend in a supermarket on a specific Friday during the year.  Assume this data represents a sample. Recent history has shown that a customer spends on average more than \$95 at this supermarket on a given Friday.  Conduct a one sided hypothesis test at a level of significance of .10 to determine if the sample meets this criteria. (35 Pts)

3.        Studies from the FDA shows that a particular strain of bacteria infection will become contagious if exposure is ordained beyond 36 hours as the bacteria dies within that time frame.    A study was conducted on 121 samples of the bacteria infection.  The samples revealed that the bacteria died on average of 36.8 hours with a standard deviation of 7.25 hours (35 pts)

a.        Test if the 121 sample meets the 36 hour requirement at the a = .05 level of significance

b.        What is the 95% confidence interval values for this study
