Two researchers studied anterior knee motion analysis. The study involved 16 patients each of whom presented a chronic anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) deficient knee on one leg with an ACL- intact ligament on the other leg. The anterior knee motion (in millimeters) on each leg of each patient was measures just before surgert using two different methods (1) the KT-1000 arthrometer and (2) simultaneous radiography. The data is given on the next page. Is there a statistically significant difference in the anterior knee motion of the ACL deficient knee as determined by the KT-1000 in comparison with the Simultaneous Radiography? Utilizing the K-1000, is the anterior knee motion of the ACL- deficient knee greater than the motion of the ACL- intact knee? State the null hypothesis and alternative hypothesis. List the numbers, the 16 differences, in column L3. Find the mean and standard deviation sx from your calculator from 1-Var Stats. List these two values. Do the T-Test in your calculator and write the t value and p-value. State whether you "reject the null hypothesis" or "fail to reject the null hypothesis" and then answer the question given in parts a and b.
