Project #30156 - Nonverbal behaviors

Directions: Read the questions below and provide a thorough response using proper APA guidelines for formatting and citations.  Your answer to each question should be at least one page in length.  Please provide examples from books or required video, if applicable.

1.      Write about the multitude of nonverbal behaviors as direct visual representations of the fight-or-flight survival response in subjects.

2.      Decipher the acronym "HEAL," which generates information that can streamline the decoding procedure of truth from a high probability of deception or lying.

3.      Briefly describe the meaning of various signals given by the following body parts that investigators can use to their advantage: 1.) head positions, 2.) facial color and expressions, 3.) the nose, 4.) the mouth (lip behaviors), 5.) the eyes, 6.) the arms, shoulders, and elbows, 7.) the hands, 8.) the legs (knees, feet, sitting postures)

4.      Compare the various defense zones that people use, such as personal space, intimate zone, and proxemic zones, and explain how "attacking the zones" can help to gain information.

5.      Not all of the body language symptoms and verbal cues we have explored are limited to deceptive subjects. These same clusters can be observed in reluctant witnesses, victims, sources of information, and informants. Describe acceptance clusters and describe the early signs of acceptance, including the phenomenon of "mirroring." Explain what the interrogator should do when these signals are strong.

6.      Explain the three forms of stress signals.
