Managing organizational change is a critical topic. Change is inevitable.
Please read the Practicing OB exercise, "Concerns About Downsizing" on page 585, and respond to the following questions:
1. Does it make sense to expect your employees to have these fears? Why or Why not?
2. Describe the steps you can take to help allay these fears and to return work to normal. How effective do you think these steps may be?
3. If large-scale downsizing were to occur, how might you use an organizational development technique to help smooth the transition?
4. Downsizing is only one of many organizational changes. What types of organizational changes have you experienced or observed? Why do employees resist change? Watch this video and consider: how resistant are you to change?
Consider: Kingdom Behavior:
"And my God will meet all your needs according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus" (Philippians 4:19 NIV).
"Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus" (Philippians 4:5 NIV).
