Project #34053 - The Great American Bubble Machine

Article link : http://peakwatch.typepad.com/goldman_taibbi.pdf

Matt Taibbi is mad as hell and wants everyone to know it. He attacks Goldman Sachs and blames the financial collapse and subsequent recession on its reckless behavior.  He provides example after example of how Goldman Sachs' greed and selfishness has been bad for Americans.

In the last part of the essay, he anticipates an upcoming bubble related to global warming.  He thinks that a carbon-credit marker (also called cap and trade) will emerge to defraud unsuspecting investors -- just like oil, mortgages, and tech stocks did before.  Your job is to research the carbon credit concept.  Define clearly what it is, why it is being considered, how close it is to implementation, and its possible causes and effects (especially monetarily).  Be sure keep to stay focused on the Taibbi essay and to credit your sources in-text and on a separate Works Cited page.

Before writing consider this:

PURPOSE -- to demonstrate a careful reading of Taibbi's essay, research his prediction of a carbon credit bubble,  and discuss your findings.  Use Taibbi's essay as a model.

AUDIENCE: your instructor; fellow students

FORMAT -- Research; MLA; 6 pages
