Section 1 - Introduction (No more than 1 page double spaced) Introducing your topic and what you plan to find out about the topic you have chosen

Section 2 - Design of Experiment, stating the objectives you wish to test

Section 3 - Presentation of Data, this section should include appropriate graphs and any information you would like to include about your indvidual variables, ex. mean, median, stdev, etc.

Section 4 - Data Analysis and Inferences, State p-values, alpha levels, decisions, and conclusions here, you may copy and paste minitab session windows into this section. Each decision/conclusion should relate back to the specific objectives from section 2.

Guidelines:

1. Pick a topic of interest to you. Your data can be collected as a survey, through an internet website, etc. (I would like you guys to do basketball)...

2. You should have 3 different hypothesis tests within your project and objectives you are testing.

3. All hypothesis tests should be performed using a = 0.05.

4. Minitab MUST be used to perform all statistics!! (I will not accept project which used other statistical packages or by hand!)

5. Remember to reference the textbook and minitab whether you create a video presentation or a technical paper. The notes are derived from the textbook so it must be referenced. (No particular format)

Difference of Proportions and Means

Data to collect: From males and females how long do they spend/day on a smart phone, do they have an iphone or other smart phone

Hypothesis Tests:

Proportion of males vs. females with smart phones

Proportion of iphones vs. other smart phones

Mean time spent on iphones vs. other smart phones

Or

Mean time spent by males vs. females

Difference of Means and Standard Deviations

Data to collect: Two different groups of people free-hand draw a 3” line. You measure the lines.

Hypothesis Tests:

Is the mean of group 1 = 3” (t-test one mean)

Is the mean of group 2 = 3” (t-test one mean)

Mean of group 1 = mean of group 2

Standard deviation of group 1 = standard deviation of group 2

Two-Way ANOVA with Replication

or

Data to collect: NY Yankees, pick 3 positions, NY Mets, same 3 positions. Gather data on last season’s RBIs from 2 players, same position on each team.

Hypothesis Tests:

Is there an interaction between team and position

Does team have an effect on RBIs

Does position have an effect on RBIs

Correlation/Regression

Data to collect: Age and time spent getting ready for work/school in the morning
