This could mean a lot of things. But the key is to link the two works you've read together to compare them(how are they the same?). After reading the books, what have you noticed? Here are some exampl thesis statement beginning:

3) The characters in the author's novels tend to..
4) The author tends to write about x, which is important because..
The possibilites are endless, but these ideas should get you thinking!

Sources: At least 4:
-2 should be the texts themselves
-at least 2 must come from online databases accessed from Edline, including, but not limited to: Ebscohost, Facts on File, Google Scholar
Other acceptable sources include: Official website of author, sources ending in .org or .edu , print sources(magazines, books,etc.
The follow sources are NOT acceptable:
-Wikipedia(yes, i know its a .org, but stay away from it! Instead, use the references in Wikipedia to guide you to reputable websites)
-any sources ending in .biz, .net, or many .com's, for example websites such as "Angie's website about Tim O'brien, the sexiest author alive!" , Shmoop, Bookrags, Sparknotes, Cliffnotes, etc. are also not acceptable.
MLA format (typed, 1" margins, header, heading, Times New Toman/Arial, double spaced)
Introduction with a clear thesis statement
Maximum of one page devoted to the author's biography
Maximum of one page devoted to a summary of the first work
Maximum of one page devoted to a summary of the second work
Minimum of four pages devoted to an exploration/proof of your thesis statement
Effective use of quotations/paraphrasing to prove your thesis(remember ACEIT!)
Conclusion that takes your paper "one step further"
Grammar(including spelling, sentence structure, word choice, etc.)
PAPER WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED IF:
-it is not typed
-there is no complete Works Cited Page
-there is no evidence of research(you must have at least one in-text cite (paraphrase/direct quotation per paragraph)
-there is no evidence of a proven thesis statement-you must convince me that your thesis is true and correct
-it is not at least 5 pages in length
