Project #37093 - Microsoft Powerpoint Beginner Project

Lab 7 - PowerPoint Presentation Lab

Do the Practice It 21-1 on p. 712

  1. Save the data file Geese Problem on your storage medium.

  2. Switch to Slide Master view.

  3. Display the Wood Type Slide Master in the Slide pane.

  4. In the lower-right corner, delete the blue circle. (Hint: Click near the top of the circle so that the selection border that appears is taller than the Date placeholder to the left.)

  5. Select the Slide Number placeholder (in the same position as the blue circle was, to the right of the Date placeholder), the Date placeholder, and the Footer placeholder. Change the font color of the text in all three placeholders to Black.

  6. Increase the font size of the text in the content placeholder so that the text of the first-level bulleted item is 24 points. (Make sure the rest of the text increases in size as well.) Click the second-level bullet to select all of the subitem text, and then change the color of the subitems to Black.

  7. On the Two Content Layout master, increase the font size of the first-level bulleted items in both content placeholders to 24 points. (Make sure the rest of the text increases in size as well.)

  8. On the Title Slide Layout master, delete the blue circle.

  9. Apply the Style 2 background style to all the slides.

  10. On the Wood Type Slide Master, draw a Bevel shape (in the Basic Shapes section of the Shapes gallery) in the upper-right corner of the slide about one-half inch high and 3.5 inches wide. Type Macon Road Neighborhood Association in the bevel shape. Change the font size of the text to 12 points, and then resize the shape so it is 0.3 inches high and 3.5 inches wide. Position the shape so there is about one-eight inch between its top and right edges and the top and right edges of the slide.

  11. Apply  a Black Colored Fill to the bevel shape.

  12. Position the Slide Number placeholder below the bevel shape. Use the smart guides to align the top of the Slide Number placeholder with the top of the title text placeholder and the right edge of the Slide Number placeholder with the right edge of the bevel shape.

  13. Close Slide Master view.

  14. Display Slide 5 (“Possible Solutions”) in the Slide pane. In place of the content placeholder on the right, insert the picture data file Barrier located in the Chapter 21\Practice It folder. Apply the Simple Frame, White style to the picture, and then sharpen the photo by 50%.

  15. Display Slide 6 (“West Bend River: Alternative Nesting Site”). In place of the content placeholder on the right, insert the picture data file Geese Photo located in the Chapter 21\Practice It folder. Apply the Simple Frame, White style to the picture, increase the color saturation by 200%, and increase the contrast by 20%.

  16. Display Slide 4 (“Causes”) in the Slide pane. Convert the bulleted list on the slide to the Converging Radial SmartArt diagram (located in the Relationship category).

  17. Add a new shape after the People feed shape in the SmartArt diagram. Add the words Cut grass to the shape.

  18. Change the colors of the diagram to the Dark 1 Outline style (in the Primary Theme Colors section on the Change Colors menu). Change the style of the SmartArt diagram to the Cartoon style.

  19. Animate the SmartArt diagram with the Fade entrance animation. Change the Sequence effect to One by One, and change the duration to one-half second.

  20. On Slide 5 (“Possible Solutions”), animate the photo with the Split entrance animation and the Vertical Out effect. Change the order of the animations on Slide 5 so that the photo is the second item to animate.

  21. Change the Start timing of the photo animation to With Previous so it animates with the Build shoreline barriers item.

  22. Display Slide 3 (“Listen!”) in the Slide pane. Insert the video data file Geese Video (or you may use the Geese Video.zip file).

  23. Crop the black borders of the sides of the video. Apply the Half Reflection, 4 pt offset reflection style to the video.

  24. Set the video to rewind after playing.

  25. Trim the video so it ends at approximately the 8-second mark.

  26. Use the frame at approximately the 4.5-second mark as the poster frame.

  27. Compress all the photos in the presentation to 96 ppi. Compress the media using the Low Quality setting.

  28. On Slide 1, add your name in the line below the word by in the subtitle. Save the presentation.

Upload the file in the lab 7 module.
