This assignment is on medication errors in the medical field.

 

Thesis Statement

 

  1. Does your thesis start off by stating that your statement is based in research? i.e., "Research suggests..."
  2. Does your thesis statement have a major claim and 2 (at least 2 and may be 3) supporting main points?

 

Research

 

  1. Is your research sufficient enough to support your main points?
  2. Is your research relevant to your major claim and main points?
  3. Is your research from credible sources? If you used web sources, did you evaluate them (i.e. no wikis or blogs)?

 

Outline

 

     I.  Introduction:

 

  1. Did you start with an intention-getter or audience hook?
  2. Did you next include your thesis?
  3. After your thesis statement did you preview your main points?

 

                      Body:

 

       II. Main Point #1

 

  1. Did you start with your first main point?
  2. Do you have several (at least 3) sub points that support your main point? 
  3. Do you have in-text citations for each of your sub points?
  4. Are your main points and sub points written from an objective point of view (i.e. not opinion-based using I language).

 

Show Visual Aid (with in text cite). You may also do this after Main Point #2

 

      III. Main Point #2

 

  1. Is this the next main point in your preview?
  2. Do you have several (at least 3) sub points that support your main point?
  3. Do you have in-text citations for each of your sub points?
  4. Are your main points and sub points written from an objective point of view (i.e. not opinion-based using I language). 

 

     IV. Conclusion:

 

  1. Did you restate your thesis statement?
  2. Did you give logical summary of the presentation’s main points?
  3. Do you have closing remarks or closing strategies?

 

Reference Page:

 

  1. Are all your sources that you cited in the body of your outline included on the reference page?
  2. Are all your in-text and full-text citations written in APA style?
  3. Did you check over your reference page to make sure that there are not extra references that are not cited in your outline?
