Project #40661 - PLESSY V FERGUSON

In Plessy v. Ferguson, the Supreme Court enshrined into constitutional law the doctrine of “separate but equal" that had already become practice in the postbellow South.  Although this case was decided in 1896, how did segregation or as it was known, Jim Crow, define the social, political and economic context of the United States in the South during the postwar period (1865-1900), either by practice or by law?

Your interpretive analysis of this vital question must:

  1. be 1250-1500 words (5-7 double-spaced pages).
  2. Use Times New Roman, 12-point font with 1-inch margins.
  3. Follow the Chicago Manual of Style (Turabian is fine).
  4. Include footnotes from only the course materials.
  5. Be submitted by the date listed on the Course Schedule.
  6. Be free of errors in punctuation, grammar, spelling and syntax.
  7. Definitively and effectively answer the question posed.
  8. Defend against possible counter arguments.
