Project #41051 - Anglo-Saxon Poem

Compose an anglo-saxon poem of at least 15 lines in which a hero combats evil. Include elements of the Anglo-Saxon heroic ideal. What attributes will your hero have? What type of evil does he fight? Where is the battle set? What motivates the hero and the villian? What will the victor gain?

Do your best to write in an epic style. Use heightened language and a "larger-than-life" hero. Feel free to create your own character names and locations. Be creative.

Include:

  • Every line should have 4 stressed syllables per line(must be marked with /)
  • A minimum of 5 lines showing alliteration on stressed syllables
  • At least one kenning
  • At least one simile
  • At least one hyperbole
  • Inclusion of elements of the Anglo-Saxon heroic ideal
  • Inclusion of elements of Anglo-Saxon culture(i.e. references to wyrd or wereguild, comitatus, mythological creatures, the mead-hall celebration, scops, etc.)
