Project #41495 - Alison’s Coffee Shop Dilemma

In preparing the Alison’s Coffee case, it is suggested you follow a short-cycle and then a long-cycle case analysis approach. The short-cycle involves taking about 10-15 minutes to read the opening paragraph(s), review the headings within the case, read the concluding paragraph(s) and review any exhibits or appendices. This process should answer four questions – who, what, why, and when. The long cycle involves reading the case thoroughly from start to finish. Why do the short cycle? It helps you prepare for the case but knowing what to expect, so you have to read the full case once, saving time.
Your assignment is to answer these four questions. These are:
1.    Who is the person in the case that is the decision maker and what is her role?
2.    What is the problem that needs to be addressed?
3.    Why has the problem or issue arisen – what has led to this situation?
4.    When does the decision have to be made – right away, or sometime in the future?
