1.) All organizations are faced with an ever-changing environment which impacts their marketing decisions. (a) Build a SWOT for your specific organization (excel). Ensure you have at least 5 factors listed in bullet point under each section. (b) Then, identify 1 key factor from any section in your SWOT that you believe is having the most negative impact on your organization’s growth and suggest a corresponding strategy to overcome it (use growth strategies on page 52).

When I am developing a SWOT analysis or developing a marketing strategy for a client, I constantly ask myself the question, "does this strategy build on the organizations strengths and opportunities and overcome their threats and weaknesses". If it clearly demonstrates that it does, I believe I am on the right track. The chart below will help with your analysis.

Here is my specific organization info: 

For my business directory, I've chosen to used Northview Golf & country club as my business study for this course. I know this business from a good friend of mine who works there as a Merchandising Manager and I also like golf. This type of business is a Golf Course, Driving Range, and Dining Facilities. They are located at 6857 – 168 Street Surrey, B.C. 

 

Golf clubs are part of the leisure and recreation industry. Success depends on maintaining a high level of customer service. Customer retention is critical to a golf club’s success. If the golfers are satisfied with their experience at the golf facility, they will keep coming back. Ideally, you would like your customers to play more often and spend more money each time they visit. Northview’s revenue streams include green fees, golf cart rentals, fees for golf instruction, equipment and clothing sales, and food and beverage sales.
