Strategic initiatives are complex undertakings that impact a company’s future operations and business methods; they cannot be developed and implemented overnight. HR professionals and their business partners spend time carefully planning, outlining details, and defining the terms of their agreements before they launch strategic initiatives. Once the planning stage is complete, the work is far from over. A successful strategic initiative requires active monitoring and management to ensure that its outcomes are favorable and it meets goals laid out in the planning stage. One of the tools HR professionals can use to assess the progress of their strategic initiatives is the Balanced Scorecard.

In a 1-2 page paper please evaluate how a Balanced Scorecard can help with the management of strategic initiatives.

Attached is an example of a successful use of the Balanced Scorecard. Use the attached "A Balanced Scorecard for Maple Leaf Consulting" for this assignment. 

·         Summarize the example you found and indicate how Balanced Scorecards could be used as an effective tool in strategic initiatives. What would be the drawbacks?

 

·         Describe the characteristics of a successful strategic initiative implementation. Defend why these criteria would be good indicators of success. Would the Balanced Scorecard be a useful tool to measure success? Are the criteria you selected actually measureable? Why or why not?
