Project #4311 - Value Creation and Conflict Handling Strategies

You have just been offered a job in a new city and have to move. You are single, and have found a house you wish to purchase in this new location. The house is owned by a couple who have two children; they need to move, but cannot purchase another home until they sell the one they currently own, the one you want. Their asking price is higher than you can afford, but because it is in a good school district there is a good chance someone else will pay near the asking price. You also know that the house does need some work.   Based on this scenario, what do you think are the differences that would create value for each party in this situation, and therefore influence how the negotiation would play out? Taking it further, what style of conflict handling would work best for you to use in negotiating a price for this house? Make sure to explain your answers thoroughly, and support them with your readings. This assignment should be approximately ½ to 1 page in length.
