Marketing Concept: A: Identify the customer focus, B: total company effort (functional communication), and C: the long run profitability based on some selected level of quality and satisfaction. The "total company effort” is the inter–organizational communication among the internal marketing participants. Example: Marketing research tests a new product and consults with sales before recommending a market launch, or R&D develops a new product and consults marketing to get consumer feedback etc

 

 Marketing Segmentation: (market impact based on specific demographics)No area “geographic” segmentation allowed i.e. Marketing brand x to Mexico. The market segment must be measurable, accessible and profitable - within reason. Your text states it to be attractive, sizeable and has a brand objective.

 Marketing Strategy Planning Process: specify each step from your article. Highlight support for each of the main four points: 1: situational analysis (brief - SWOT/BCGMatrix), 2: target market, 3: positioning statement, and support for each of the 4: marketing mix within reason.

 Positioning:must include a named or inferred competitor. ex. 7-Up is the ‘uncola’ ---- meaning other colas like Pepsi or Coke - specify. Respond to what the valued customer benefit it is to the target and who is the inferred or stated competition. Specify: the functional, symbolic and experiential components as you see them.

 Customer satisfaction:You may give example of dissatisfaction and why. Support with a survey like J.D. Powers or some other hard evidence.

 Brand loyalty: or Lifetime value must discuss the number of repeat customers.The topic should be either stated in the WSJ article or strongly inferred. Support you argument here.  

PLC - A consumer product that has gone through at least several stages of the product life cycle . Declare the one stage of PLC it is presently in. Include either sales or volume over time in support of your contentions. (Look for articles with sales/volume graphs.) Declare what is the consumer trend that drive your plc. i.e. Healthy foods replacing snacks with snack on the decline stage of the plc.   

Examples of companies in the production, sales and marketing eras  Declare the era a company may be in or how it evolved through to another era. Two eras must be explained i.e. production to sales – explain why the change (use your marketing mix to explain it.)  

 

 

All ‘eras” articles topic #8( Examples of companies,,) must follow a company between at least TWO eras and explain each stage. Consider changes in the 4p’s. Ex. Production era may focus on the product vs. sales era with a focus on advertising and lower prices and marketing era with a target market and differentiated 4p’s.

 

All strategy process articles topic #3( marketing strategy planning process ) give headings for the 4 requirements; (1) Situational analysis, (2) Target mkt, (3) positioning, and a (4) brief 4p’s with assumptions.

 

All ‘Marketing Concept’ articles must defend 1: A customer focus (Not business to business to business but the end consumer ), 2:inter-organizational or function cooperation, and 3: a specific level of quality and customer satisfaction – highlight or number each.

 

PLC needs to have a defined ‘customer trend’ along with a reasoned stage of the PLC

‘Custom Satisfaction’ should be supported by some quantitative support like increasing sales with a trend, or a survey ie.JD Powers or a product ranking of some sort.
