Project #44056 - master

Due Date: See Course Profile

Marks: 35%. The allocation of marks is explained below under Criteria and Marking.

Task Description:

·         The purpose of the assignment is to demonstrate your understanding of some of the topics covered in the course, expand on that understanding by further literature review and critically analyse and apply the knowledge gained.

·         This assessment entails students to write a reflective journal on the topics covered in the weeks listed in the course profile. On the topics covered in each of the above weeks, students will write a journal between 500 to 625 words. The overall word limit for this assessment is 2000 to 2500 words (based on 500 to 625 words for “each” of the four journals), plus or minus 10% (excluding references). Keep a strict watch on the word count. You will not gain but lose marks if you exceed the word limit by more than 10%. Editing is a crucial part of writing and this assessment helps you learn that! Make rough notes first and then do the final editing towards the end. Keep your notes as you will find them handy in preparing for your final exam as well.

·         Follow Harvard or APA style in referencing by placing the author's last name and year of publication (eg. Becker, 2008) in the text and by providing the full alphabetical reference towards the end of “each” weekly journal. Same applies for web references. Note that reference list does not count for word limit.

·         Each journal will have three sections as described under Criteria below. All 3 sections should be clearly mentioned in each journal without which it will be difficult to make an assessment for each of them. You will unnecessarily lose marks if all 3 sections are not specifically covered for all 4 journals.

·         A “sample journal” based on the topic covered in week 2 lecture is enclosed below as a “template”.

·        The practice journal will be reviewed by the Convenor and individual feedback provided. This will not be counted for assessment.

·         Students will start maintaining their journal commencing in week 4 and submit all the 4 journals “together as one piece of assessment” by the due date.

·         The hard copy of the assignment should be submitted to the Assignment Collection counter at any Griffith campus library by the due date and time. Acknowledgement of receipt should be obtained from the library staff as proof of submission. Assignments received by fax, e-mail or any other form other than hard copy will NOT be accepted. Students should keep a copy of their assignment until final grade is awarded.

·         In exceptional circumstances where a student is not able to fulfil this assessment requirement (for example, not being able to attend most of the seminars in the weeks specified), the Convenor, at his sole discretion, may offer an alternate assessment which will be negotiated individually and finalised by week 3.
