# Project #44790 - Statistics using Minitab

1.   Take the Job Data in the MTB Workbook, “MTBJobs,” and create 6 new variables to use in developing your multiple regression model:

a)  Initial variables are:

i)         Sal – salary of the individual

ii)        Yrs – years this individual has been employed by the city

iii)       Gen – Gender of the individual (1 – male, 0 – female)

iv)        Sk – Skill level of the job this person now occupies

v)         Job – Job category (C – Clerical, D – Draftsman, E – Engineering)

b)   Create an indicator variable for each job category

c)   Create an interaction variable for each job indicator variable with Sk

d)   Create the ”Best Model” you can find from the nine variables* you have available to you.

e)   Explain why you chose this set of variables, and give an interpretation of the model.

* Predictor Variables:  1. Years, 2. Gender Indicator, 3. Skill, 4-6. 3 indicator variables, one for each job category, 7-9.  3 interaction variables, one for each job category interacted with Skill.  There will ultimately be 10 columns of usable data (the column ”Job” with the letter designations cannot be used) and 110 observations (rows).

2.  Take the data in the MTB Workbook, "BodyFat"  and create a model to predict a person's (male) body fat percentage given their height, weight, waste in inches, and neck in inches.  Comment on the efficiency of using this method rather than the more precise immersion method.
