For the who project use there will be a transcription form attached, which show what the child says in a video that was recorded.

Part 1: Discuss the findings of the chart you made. Is your child normal for his/her age? Refer to Figure 4.6 on page 168 (will be attached). Be sure to discuss missing sounds from your chart. Is that expected for his/her age? What segment substitution processes does s/he use? Give examples. If your child does not do any processes, give an example from one word of what would be “normal” for that age.

Part 2: Write an evaluation of your child’s lexical development. Refer to your Templin Type-Token Ratio analysis  (will be attached) and what we learned in class.  What types of words does s/he or doesn’t s/he use? Is the child delayed for his her age? Explain why or why not.    Part 1-2 due in (8 hr)

Part 3: INDIVIDUAL REFLECTION–Discuss your reactions to doing this project, working with the child, working with your group members. Was it easier, harder, and more enriching than you thought? What have we been learning that has “come to light” in doing the project? This is your opportunity to write your feelings about this project. 

Must be one page, double-spaced, 1-inch margins, and size 12 font only!

 

Part 4. QUOTE REFLECTION/ANALYSIS – Choose a quote from your textbook from the Phonology and/or lexical chapter that you find interesting. Write 4 paragraphs. (Pages to choose quote from will be attached) please use a meaningful quote, don’t use something simple.

            1. Type out the quote and indicate the page number from Hoff

            2. Explain what the quote means in your own words

            3. Why did you choose this quote? Why is it interesting? surprising?  how      does it relate to something we’ve learned in class? Analyze the quote.

            4. How does this quote relate to your case study?  (due in 24 hr)

 

Part 5. INDIVIDUAL LETTER TO THE PARENT–

·      Use a real letter format with salutations (Dear XXX, Sincerely XXX)

  • Must be no more than 2 pages, double-spaced, 1-inch margins, and size 12 font only
  • Anything longer than 2 pages will result in point reduction!

·       Use the paragraph format below:

Paragraph 1 – introduce yourself and your training as an SLP – schools you attended?    Degrees?   Describe the child and how you collected the data

Paragraph 2 – describe the child’s communicative development 

Paragraph 3 – describe the child’s phonological development 

Paragraph 4 – describe the child’s lexical development

Paragraph 5 – describe the child’s syntactic & morphological development 

Paragraph 6 – Concluding paragraph – normal, delayed, advanced? 

Part 6: SYNTACTIC DEVELOMENT  

 

a.     WRITE a paragraph arguing whether your child is developing normally is delayed or is advanced for MLU? (MlU form will be attached) Refer to the chart on p. 244

b.     Negation or Question Formation : Choose  EITHER A or B below :

A.    Negation.  -

1.      What should your child be producing at his/her age for negation?  

2.      Is your child’s use of negation normal for his/her age?  Give examples from your language sample.

NOTE: If your child does not produce any negation – state that and answer (1) from above. Give an example of what your child should be doing for negation at her/his age.

 

B.    Question Formation 

1.      What should your child be producing at his/her age in terms of question formation?

2.      Is your child’s use of questions appropriate for his/her age? Give examples from your language sample.

NOTE: If your child does not produce any questions – state that and answer (1) from                above.  Give an example of what your child should be doing for questions  at her/his age.   (part 5-6 due in 48 hrs)
