I want you to step back and put yourself in a consultant role. You have been asked by a company to come in and set up a compensation plan. The president of the company has decided that he has read enough articles on broadbanding and that his organization should move immediately to this new trend. He has also read that incentives work wonders. In five to eight pages, tell me what the key steps, questions, and issues you would bring to the president’s attention as a consultant to this company. A company description follows.

The Company is a credit card division of a major bank. They employ approximately 1000 people. 75 percent of the workforce is nonexempt, and there are four executives in addition to the president: the chief executive officer, the chief marketing officer, the chief of technology, and the chief financial officer. The workforce that comprises the 75 percent is mostly part time workers who are students and casual workers. They currently work for minimum wage and are given a dime raise every month. Part of the president’s goal has been to have more workers commit to the organization. He feels a dime shows appreciation and can impact salary. After all, after ten months, a person can raise their wage by a dollar an hour. To date, only thirty five people have raised their salary a dollar. He has declared that if they reach a million dollars in revenue in one month he will give them something for their hard work.
