1.     When the play button is pressed, a CD accelerates uniformly from rest to 450 rev/min in 3 revolutions. If the CD has a radius of 6 cm and a mass of 0.017 kg, what is the torque exerted on it? (in N·m)

QUESTION 3

1.     A child exerts a tangential 42.2-N force on the rim of a disk-shaped merry-go-round with a radius of 2.4 m. If the merry-go-round starts at rest and acquires an angular speed of 0.086 rev/s in 3.5 s, what is its mass? (in kg)

 

QUESTION 4

1.     A 0.018-kg record with a radius of 0.17 m rotates with an angular speed of 28 rpm. Find the angular momentum of the record. (in kg·m2/s)

 

 

QUESTION 5

1.     A torque of 0.12 N·m is applied to an egg beater. If the moment of inertia of the egg beater is 0.0025 kg·m2, what is its angular speed after 0.65 s, assuming it starts from rest? (in rad/s) (Hint: first find the angular momentum of the egg beater after 0.65 s)

 

QUESTION 6

1.     A turntable with a moment of inertia of 0.0054 kg·m2 rotates freely with an angular speed of 33 rpm. Riding on the rim of the turntable, 0.15 m from the center, is a cute, 0.032-kg mouse. Calculate the angular speed of the turntable when the mouse reaches the center. (in rpm)
