Even though the methods of differentiation are different to those of the integration, there are some similarities among them. We use differentiation to find the derivative of a function and integration is the opposite operation, it is also called anti-differentiation.
Similarities:
1. we can take out a variable that is multiplying from the operator symbol
Ex. Let k be a variable
d/dx (2k) = k d/dx(2) differentiation
Êƒ (2k) dx = k Êƒ 2 dx integration
2. We can distribute over addition and subtraction
Ex.
d/dx (t ± m) = [ d/dx (t)] ± [d/dx (m)] differentiation
Êƒ (t ± m) dx = (Êƒ t dx) ± (Êƒ m dx) integration
