Project #51567 - Research Paper

Research Paper Instructions

As the name of this paper suggests, a research paper is a paper that analyzes one's independent investigations into a field of research. While research papers include author analysis, such analysis is entirely dependent on the work of others. To use and make sense of the work of others, one must know how to properly search for and evaluate sources.

Through the process of outlining, drafting, revising, and finalizing your research paper, you will learn to seek out appropriate sources and evaluate them, to incorporate these sources in a way that makes them the basis of your analysis, and to develop an original argument  in the process.

Outline

Consider the major global challenges facing us today. poverty. The leaders of the world have attempted to address these issues mostly with their own interests in mind. How might the ways in which these challenges are met change if the peoples of the world adopted the framework of global citizenship?

Use the library's eBook search or the catalogue search to obtain a copy of a peer reviewed scholarly book that defines the features and possibilities of global citizenship. This book will become the foundation for your essay, so choose wisely. Then, using the library's databases (Academic Search Premier is a good place to start), find two peer reviewed academic journal articles related to the world challenges you wish to address in your paper. Type up (in MLA format) an outline of your paper, including a summary of the contents of the book then moving on to the specific details in the articles that you will want to address. Note: I am aware that you will not be able to read the book in its entirety by the date this outline is due. What I am looking for is evidence that the chosen texts are relevant to the parameters set up here.

Prompt

Analyze the concept of global citizenship. What is it? What does it mean to be one? How does being a global citizen differ from being a citizen of a particular country? How might the major challenges listed above be better met by a world of global citizens?

The goals of this paper are to understand the concept of global citizenship and to establish it as a theoretical framework for addressing the major challenges in the world. Having done this, you will then analyze how two or three major challenges can be met by a world of global citizens. Keep in mind, that some challenges can be argued as encompassing others.

You must incorporate at least one academic peer reviewed book, two academic peer reviewed journal articles. You may also incorporate non-governmental organization (NGO) sources, encyclopedia articles, news articles, and other academic sources.
