Project #53110 - client description

Part 1: “Getting to Know Your Client”

Before embarking on your counseling plan, you must first select and “get to know” your client. When selecting your client, you may decide between the following options:

  • Option 1: Select a famous person (past or present).
  • Option 2: Select a fictional character from literature, movies, or television (past or present).

Once you have selected your client, analyze his or her unique situation. Many counselors learn more about their clients by examining one or more of the aspects provided below:

  • Client demographics.
  • Problems impacting or being caused by the client (presenting problems).
  • Client’s family background and developmental history.
  • Client’s current living and work environment.
  • Client’s physical appearance, mood, and demeanor.

In 1–2 pages, summarize your analysis of the client’s unique situation. In your summary, include a description of your client, the client’s presenting problem(s), the client’s family background and developmental history—such as details about his or her childhood and early adulthood—and any other information you believe to be pertinent to your client’s case.
