Project #53786 - economics

During Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership negotiations between European Union and the United States France wanted its film industry to be exempted from free trade agreement. French film industry executives argue that in the absence of the "exception culterelle," France culture could be forgotten if Hollywood continues to hold a high ground among French moviegoers.

Do you think France has a valid reason to protect its language, culture and art from 'American expansionism' or it is clever protectionist argument? Why or why not? Take position, discuss and cite your sources.
