COMPUTER DATA COMMUNICATION (ASSIGNMENT) Overview This assignment allows students to demonstrate an understanding of the network requirements that includes a computer network and telephone system. It is important to read and understand the scenario to make sure that all requirements are fulfilled. Scenario Call Me Company is opening a call centre and wants to employ 500 agents. Several big clients have partnered with Call Me Company to help in marketing their services and products. Each agent in Call Me Company will handle one client at a time. It is the agent’s job to make calls to acquire new customers for the clients. Agents follow a strict procedure when making calls to potential customers. First,the computer system will randomlypick a customer’s information from the database.The system will automatically dial the customer’s contact number.Second,a list of questions will be displayed on the computer screen.These questions will be asked by the agent to the potential customer. Lastly, if the potential customer wishes to acquire the products,the agent will assist the customers to fill in the online registration form. Customer can call the centre as well for further enquiries.When a customer calls,an automated telephone operator will answer. The operator will instruct the customer on which number to press with the following choices: • Press 1 for billing • Press 2 for refunds • Press 3 to change personal details • Press 4 to talk to a customer representative The call will then be directed to the assigned agent who will then assist the customer. Task 1. Network Design [25 marks] Investigate the possible network topologies and media that could be used to create the in-house computer network (LAN) for the call centre with the large number of agents. In order to start with the network design, you are to answer the following: a)Identify TWO (2) topologies that can be applied to the company and explain how each topology operate. b)Identify TWO (2) medium(s) that can be applied to the company and explain the advantages and disadvantages of each medium. c) Provide a recommendation for which topology and medium to use, including the reasons for the recommendation. d)Using MICROSOFT VISIO or any related software, provide a BASIC NETWORK DIAGRAM for the company. Include as much detail as possible and justify your design. Task 2. Internet Connection Requirements [10 marks] Investigate the Internet connection requirements for the call centre. a) Describe the Internet services that may be required. b) Explain the connection speeds that are suitable for these requirements. c) Find examples of Internet Service Providers (ISPs) that can meet these requirements in your country. d) Make a recommendation of the ISP to be used based on the required services and the cost.   Task 3. Telephone System Requirements [33 marks] Investigate all telephone systems available in Brunei Darussalam for a business like the call centre. Presentyour findings and pay particular attention to: a)The main equipment that would be installed. b)The features offered by each system. c) Integration of different telephone numbers for different clients of the call centre. d) The ability to direct callers to different agents with regards to their enquiries. e) The cost of equipment and installation. f) The cost of operating the system. g) Provide a recommendation to the call centre on what system they need to purchase and justify the reasons for this recommendation. Task 4. Telephone and Computer Systems Integration [10 marks] Based in Brunei Darussalam, investigate other integrated telephone and computer system available. Take note on how the automated telephone operator works. Present your findings and pay particular attention to: a) The equipment and software that is required. b) The features offered by each system. c) Provide a recommendation to the call centre on what system they need to purchase and justify the reasons for this recommendation. Task 5. Network Security [8 marks] The call centre database will hold personal details of a large number of customers. Describe the possible threats to the database and the corresponding countermeasure to these threats. Task 6. Network Review [10 marks] In not less than 350 words, create a comprehensive, professional report describing your network recommendations. This should include the summary of Tasks 1 – 5, whole cost estimation and executive summary at the start. Your review should include any assumptions you have made and any changes you would make to improve your work. Documentation Requirement [4 marks] The key lesson of this assignment is the importance of thorough and clear documentation in order to support your network design. Follow these guidelines in preparing the documentation: • Cover Page • Table of Contents • Acknowledgement • Abstract • ObjectivesScenario • Task 1 – Task 6 Deliverables • Conclusion • Bibliography (Refer to the Harvard Referencing guideline) Instructions 1. Your answers must be based on real case study in Brunei Darussalam that providing call center services for example Telekom Brunei Berhad (TelBru) https://www.telbru.com.bn/ 2. Your completed assignment must be at least full of 10 pages or more excluding cover page, table of contents, acknowledgement, abstract, and bibliography. 3. A complete narrative of the documentation should be typed using word processing software with the following format: • Font Face : Arial • Font Size : 11 pt • Paragraph Alignment: Justified • Line Spacing: 1.5 • Proper Header and Footer • Proper Naming of Figure • Use of images, charts, tables, and other graphics form are encouraged.Microsoft Visio, Packet Tracer or any relevant software could be used to draw the network. • Make sure to include the references for any information you gathered from other resources.
