Project #54205 - Academic Development

1.      1.Provide a short summary of your strengths and weaknesses as discussed with your Personal Tutor and what you have been recommended to do this year.  This must be signed by Personal Tutor as an accurate record of the meeting.  (400 words). 

Having completed the Diagnostic and had your Personal Tutor meeting what can you reflect on your strengths and the areas you need to work on?  What have you done this semester to improve your academic skills outside of the teaching sessions for CC3035 in areas such as reading, writing or critical thinking skills?  This should include a discussion of any supplementary activities i.e., Writing Centre, Skill Zone etc., you have been asked to undertake.

(MY TUTOR HAS SAID I NEED TO WORK ON MY GRAMMER, SO I SPENT MORE TIME PROOF READING MY WORK. MY PROS ARE TEAM WORKING, MY CONS ARE ESSAY WRITING)

 

Criteria

To pass this part of the Portfolio a student should show that:

a)      They have fully engaged with the Diagnostic Assessment and the Personal Tutor system.

b)      That they have understood their strengths and the areas they need to work on.

c)      That they have sought to improve their academic skills outside of the teaching sessions for CC3035.

 

2.      Provide an evaluation of the key arguments, facts and evidence in a reading from one of your other modules in the programme but not CC3036. You should select three interesting quotes from the reading and explain why they are interesting. (750 words)

 

Criteria

To pass this part of the Portfolio a student should show that:

  1. They have understood the reading
  2. That they have identified the key arguments, facts and evidence in the reading.
  3. They have evaluated the reading.

 (I WILL PROVIDE THE READING)

3.     3 .What are the key things to remember when writing an essay? (300 words)

Refer to the module readings to help with your discussions.  Consider what has been discussed in the lectures about academic writing and what are the building blocks for a good essay?

 Criteria

To pass this part of the Portfolio a student should show that:

  • They have read the recommended readings about academic writing and understand what they need to do to produce work of an acceptable academic standard.
  • They understand essay preparation can be done broken done and done systematically.
  • That they understand the building blocks and requirements of an academic essay.
