Project #54433 - Wake Turbulence Seperation

Introduction

Encountering wake turbulence on an approach or departure can be difficult to maneuver at best and deadly at worst. Controllers have the responsibility of separating aircraft so they avoid this deadly trap. In this assignment you will learn about categorizing specific airplanes into their appropriate wake turbulence categories and assigning appropriate separation times.

Instructions

Complete this assignment by doing the following:

  1. Use the Internet to find at least two planes that fit into each of the wake turbulence categories (Small, Small Plus, Large, and Heavy).
  2. Prepare a list of the aircraft, grouping them by their appropriate categories. Include the name of the plane, a photograph (if available), its takeoff weight, and the separation time required for a plane that would be following this aircraft on both an approach and departure for the same runway.
  3. Submit your paper to the course using the submission instructions below.
