2 files will be uploaded. PDF the case, HBR case, and an excel file is has data pertaining to the case.
As for the questions to the case:
Based on the information given in the case and based on your own informed analysis, would you say that Silvio was the right choice for general manager of Schindler’s India operations? (note: this question is rather broad in scope, therefore, organize your answer diligently while drawing from material learned from class as well as material from alternative sources. This question should be mostly viewed from an ex-ante employee/expatriate selection perspective.)
Put yourself in the shoes of Silvio. How would you have approached the nonstandard glass wall elevator situation? (general question but focus a little bit more on how he should have dealt with the appropriate people before, during, and after the issue with the nonstandard glass wall)
Now put yourself in the shoes of Luc Bonnard. How would you evaluate Silvio’s first seven months as the general manager of the India operations? What advice/feedback would you offer?
Your actual text should be no more than 8 pages in 12-point font, double-spaced, 1-inch margins on all sides. You are allowed an unlimited appendix and you should, in addition to the 8 pages of text, have a maximum of 1 page as an Executive Summary. At the end, you should also have a section with the full bibliographic entry of the materials you have used and cited in your work.
References (in-text citations and bibliography) in APA style. Use both class and outside material as much as possible. Here's some help with APA style:
Submit to turnitin.com (see instruction on syllabus). I have posted a cover page for individual assignments in the "Case Assignment" subfolder under “Course Materials”. Fill it and make sure it is the first page of your submitted document.
Grading will be as follows:
Question 1: Worth 40/100.
Question 2: 15/100 points.
Question 3: 20/100
Writing & Structure: 25/100
Research and do your best in terms of citing relevant sources. For all questions, make sure that you set out relevant concepts and theories, apply them to the fact pattern, and make an actual conclusion/recommendation. It is better to structure your answers such that you have an introduction followed by a number of paragraphs with your main arguments and then proceed to conclude.
